The immediate post election crisis in Kenya portended by massive violent reaction to flawed 2007 general elections attracted varying interventions by the peace community in Kenya. NPI – Africa undertook a listening and solidarity visit to parts of Western and Rift Valley of Kenya in mid January 2008. As part of the initial findings from the visit, Babu Ayindo and George Kut recommended that more structured “listening visits” be conducted in all parts of the country representing the conflict divide in the country and with a view to understanding the nature, scope and impact of the crisis beyond what was being reported in the media. Out of this came a “Listening Project” which was undertaken by the organization in seven out of the eight administrative provinces.
